User Question: What special permissions are required for UPSmart program for Windows?
Answer: The special permissions required for UPSmart program for Windows can vary depending on the specific features and functionalities of the program. Generally, some common permissions that may be required include network access permissions, file system access permissions, and possibly administrative privileges. It is recommended to refer to the program's documentation or contact the software developer for detailed information about the specific permissions needed.
I have UPSmart v1.5 running on Win10 (10.0.18363). I initially had an issue with the USB driver detecting the UPS which was an incompatibility from a previously installed 3rd party device. Removing that device and software allowed the UPS to be detected using the MegaUSB profile. The main thing that appears to not work, is battery capacity, but is correct in voltages, load and frequency.
I always get "Communication Failure" error. I have changed USB connection cables between UPS and PC, computers with different versions of Windows (XP, 8.1), Firewall off. But no response, the problem still exists. Any suggestion?

You have to change some settings in UPSmart if you keep receiving the Communication Fail error. I've downloaded the PDF guide and it appears that it provides some insight into the different configuration methods regarding connectivity.
I recommend downloading the PDF file from the following link to check the mentioned settings.
We have purchased quantity 2 1500va UPS to support a flight simulator system. I cannot get either UPS to connect to a computer using the USB port. It tries to communicate and then fails. Communication is set to 'single phase UPS USB'. Computers are running Windows 7, 8 and 10. Any suggestions?

There are two possible causes for this issue:
Cable - if you've tested the UPS for multiple computers then it means there is something wrong with the cable because we can't say all the PCs are faulty and USB ports are not working. It's a very low chance for that to happen.
Drivers- if you have CD to install the drivers, then do so and follow the on-screen instructions in order to activate the drivers on the mentioned Windows versions.
Compatibility: This might not happen, but there's a very very small chance for compatibility issue between your UPS and your Windows versions. Check the system requirements for your UPS to see the supported versions.
I have a similar problem to the guest below. I have a new computer and wish to plug it into my UPSmart 2000R. Unfortunately, when I try to install the software, using the code on the outside of the disc sleeve, the "Next" button doesn't light up, not allowing me to proceed further. I've been happy with the confidence the PowerCool unit has given me. Help please. Thanks.

Try to apply a compatibility tweak to the installer, because it's possible that the application you're trying to install to lacks compatibility with the operating system. Sometimes you can use the same application on multiple versions of Windows/Mac/Linux etc, but if that app isn't properly configured to support other versions as well, then it's impossible to make it work.
Right click it, then go to Properties > Compatibility and change the compatibility mode to somewhere around Windows XP and then run the software again. You can also use Run as Administrator to give it system wide access. Sometimes this is necessary to install an application.
